Category: Collection Somerset County residents can recycle electronics free of charge on designated Saturdays and weekdays. Following is a listing of date, location and time for 2024: Saturday drop-offs: 8a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South County Public Works Garage, located at 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Occupants should remain in their vehicles until otherwise instructed. Residents will also be expected to remove items without assistance and place items on pallets as instructed by staff. SITES OPEN DAILY: Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North County Public Works Facility, 411 Chimney Rock Road - north of Route 22 - Building B, Bridgewater, NJ 08807, and the South County Public Works Garage, 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Proof of Somerset County residency is required (current driver's license, valid lease, tax bill or any other bill with a Somerset County address). Pre-registration is not required. First Saturday drop-off events enable busy residents to recycle tires, scrap metal and usual curbside items in one fell swoop. They also enable residents to help people in the community who are less fortunate by donating food items for a local food bank. 1st Saturday drop-offs: 8a.m. to 2 p.m. at 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 Occupants should remain in their vehicles at all times. Recycling employees remove the material from the vehicles. Textiles are not accepted at the First Saturday of the Month drop-off. Please continue to recycle your used textiles at any local charity donation bin. Proof of Somerset County residency is required (current driver's license, valid lease, tax bill or any other bill with a Somerset County address). Pre-registration is not required. No businesses allowed. No commercial vehicles are permitted at the First Saturday of the Month drop-off events. Category: Collection The Somerset County Hazardous Waste Collection Program gives residents and farmers a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household items that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. This drop-off opportunity is for residents only. Proof of Somerset County residency is required; (current driver's license, valid lease, tax bill or any other bill with a Somerset County address). Pre-registration is not required. No businesses allowed. Adherence to social distancing guidelines is required. Occupants should remain in their vehicles at all times. Materials should be stored in residents' trunks, cargo areas, or truck beds and items must be accessible to the staff so they can easily remove items from vehicles. Five events are held annually at various locations around the county from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enable residents to take advantage of the program. Following is the 2024 schedule: March 16 - Bernards Township Public Works Garage - 277 South Maple Ave, Basking Ridge 07920 April 20 - Warren Township Public Works Garage - 1 Bardy Road, Warren 07059 June 15 - South County Public Works Garage - 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough 08844 September 14 - Branchburg Township Public Works Garage - 34 Kenbury Road, Branchburg 08876 October 19 - South County Public Works Garage - 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough 08844 Somerset County Sheriff Darrin Russo and the Somerset County Solid Waste Management Division invite county residents to take advantage of the RxMission Drive-In/Drop-Off medicine-collection program, which is held in conjunction with scheduled Hazardous Waste drop-off events, rain or shine. Residents can drop off medications at as many of the Hazardous Waste drop-off events as they wish to safely dispose of unwanted or outdated prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications from their homes. Sheriff's officers are on hand to accept the medications. Please note that materials accepted at Hazardous Waste Days are NOT the same as those accepted at First Saturday of the Month Days. An additional hazardous waste disposal option is available to residents who wish to dispose of hazardous waste between county-sponsored collection days. The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority's permanent household hazardous waste facility will accept materials from Somerset County residents on a fee basis.
